Coming up… Church Choir: New voices welcome!
– Sunday School: for all ages
–
From the lame duck pastor… I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has given cards, gifts, and other expressions of appreciation since I’ve announced my move to Emporia. I really appreciate all of it.
And I also want to thank all the people who have been a part of the ministry in the Maple Hill Church over the past 8 ˝ years. The church is the body of Christ with many different parts serving different functions. It’s always been a team effort here, and God gets the ultimate glory. THANK YOU for your contributions.
I am pleased to report that the Diaconate has selected the Rev. Mark Hudson to be the Interim Pastor. Mark will begin preaching in August, and I know he will do a good job. I have known Mark since 2002 when (what is now called) the Topeka Evangelical Association of Ministers (TEAM) was formed. He is a sincere and faithful Christian and I have every reason to have confidence in him, and (more importantly) in God’s power working through him.
Interim pastors serve in a John-the-Baptist kind of way: They are preparers – making the way straight for the next installed pastor. Mark will serve for at least six months while the search committee does their work to discern who the Lord wants the next pastor to be. Please keep them in your prayers. With the spiritual support of church members and other friends in the faith, the Holy Spirit will work through them to unite their hearts around the most appropriate candidate for ministry. These are all people who love the Lord and are committed to His church here in Maple Hill. I know they will do well. God has many good things ahead for Christian ministry here in the Maple Hill Church.
Thanks again to all of you and may the Lord bless you,
Andrew McHenry, Pastor Maple Hill Community Congregational Church
